Full Spectrum CBD vs Pure CBD

There are well over a hundred cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, and many of them have been reported to be beneficial to all living beings. Humans, as well as other animals and even fish possess endocannabinoids and an Endocannabinoid System within their bodies.

The human Endocannabinoid System or ECS for short, consists of a network of receptors throughout the body, like organs, the brain, glands, tissues, and immune cells. Endocannabinoids can help regulate and influence several bodily functions like pain, pleasure, muscle control, mood, appetite, memory, and more. 

CBD commonly comes in two forms: Full Spectrum CBD Distillate & Pure CBD Isolate. 

But what’s the difference?

Pure CBD Isolate

CBD isolate is an extract made of pure cannabidiol (CBD) without any other cannabinoids, like tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The CBD is “isolated” from 99% of anything else in the plant like matter; fats, oils, terpenes, THC, & other cannabinoids. Consequently, pure CBD isolate is non-psychoactive. CBD Isolate typically comes in a powder or slab and can be used for a number of purposes.  Here are 4 ways to use isolate.

Full Spectrum CBD Distillate

Full Spectrum CBD means it has not only contains the main compound CBD, but it also provides a number of the other 100+ cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. These other cannabinoids are determined by the type of cannabis that is used to create the distillate. Some plants will be higher in cannabinoids like CBN, CBG, & THC-V, than others.

Although Full Spectrum CBD will contain THC, it will be less than .3%, which is federally mandated by law. Some studies have shown that using full spectrum CBD can sometimes enhance the combined effects of the cannabinoids involved further, than when compared to CBD isolate. This is called the “entourage effect”.
